Mrs. “D” recently called CTRideSafe for help finding a ride that would be safer than Uber for her special-needs daughter.
She needed a program where “Catherine” could travel without cash, after school, from Cannondale (Wilton) train station to their home in Weston.
As it was, one Uber driver already took the vulnerable student’s phone, from her, to “help” her with something.
Mrs. D already knew the Uber drivers had only a name-based, third-party background check (43% chance of missing criminality) while the taxi drivers must hold a special endorsement on their drivers’ license earned with a government-based finger-print-anchored background, sex-offender and medial check. So she was grateful to learn that Westport Star Taxi has cashless accounts too.
Star has had house accounts since Connecticut regulators granted their operating permit back in the 1930’s. They can be reached at 203-227-5157. Feel free to ask for the owner Jerry Clancy; and tell them CTRideSafe referred you.
As for the Weston mom she was happy to benefit from a safer, credentialed — and storied — local taxi service.
